The 80’s aren’t over, they just moved to Arbutus…

Ok, it’s actually more like Halethorp, but you get the idea. If you thought the 80’s were over, you only had to be at Fish Head Cantina last night to know that this is not the case. There was long, frizzy hair as far as the eye could see – and that was on the men! As for the women, the common thread among hairstyles was BIG. There was so much hairspray in that room, I prayed the 80’s cover band on the stage, Surreal (pictured above), didn’t have any pyrotechnics planned in their act.

Looking around the pavilion at the crowd, I was surprised that most of the people there  seemed to be in their 40’s (or older) but were dressed as if they were reliving their 20’s – either that or they had been there *since* the 80’s. It was sort of funny to see people all decked out in their 80’s gear, hair up to there, women with their boobies spilling forth from their vests (because oops, I think you forgot to put your blouse on under that vest!), and then you look at their faces and they’re wearing bifocals. Hey people, I grew up in the 80’s. I like the music just as much as the next girl, but at some point you have to realize that it’s over. The long-haired  “rocker look” loses something when paired with a 6 inch receding hairline. That’s all there is to say…
