Things that make you go ‘hmmmmm’

This will just be a quickie – it’s either very late or very early, depending on whether you’re of the ‘half-full’ or ‘half-empty’ mentality. This morning I had a dream about some sort of a sports arena. I have the impression that it was a baseball field, but I never actually saw the game being played, so I can’t say for certain. You see, I couldn’t see the surface of the arena from where I was standing on the ground…considering it was floating at least 1000 feet in the air and all.

Yes, I dreamt about a floating baseball stadium. I was standing in the middle of a parking lot (don’t ask me how the people got from their cars up to the stadium!), looking up at a huge structure that floated in the sky. (Imagine the high school in Sky High, minus the super heros.) I could hear the sounds of a crowd as they cheered for teams I could not see.

The arena slowly started to tilt to one side, and as I watched in horror, it tipped farther and farther until it was completely upside down. People who had been enjoying a game just moments before were now raining down onto the ground far below. I remember thinking that seeing them fall reminded me of the people who fell (or jumped) from the upper floors of the World Trade Center towers on September 11th. I woke up about 15 minutes before my alarm went off.

As part of my typical morning routine, I turn on the news and watch for a few minutes before getting out of bed. This morning one of the top news stories – aside from the insanity currently going on in the Middle East, of course – was of a cruise ship on its way back to Port Canaveral, Florida from the Carribbean that had unexpectedly  listed (that’s “tilted” or “tipped” to you land-lubbers) sharply to one side last night, injuring many and scaring the living crap out of all on board.

Hmmmm…
